Where, what is ? Val Lumnezia It is a valley, remote yet easily accessible, wide in places, narrow in others, cradling the River Glenner, a major tributary of the Rhine, in the western segment of Canton Grisons, named "Surselva" for the many woods that still grace its slopes. Its Latin name means "Light", aptly describing the brilliance the sun gives to its glaciers and meadows, the varied reflections of its spires, the roofs and windows of its chalets and farmhouses, and the glitter of its river and waterfalls. What is a "luxury" Chalet ? For some, it is an expensive Chalet built in an exclusive location. It is not necessarily one that pays attention to the creature comforts of guests.
Chalet Nov'Arcadia was, without a doubt, expensive to build but mainly so because of the Owner/Builders' insistence on top flight creature comforts for themselves and their guests, as well as the highest quality materials and workmanship available. Its location at some 1400 m. elevation also required unusual costs of transportation to the site of building materials and equipment. (2200 sq.fr.) of living space, including 4 double bedrooms on two professionally designed levels, 2 full and 2 half-baths, carpets, rugs and hardwood floors, open beam ceilings except in the large living room which is coffered, a separate, fully equipped gourmet kitchen, a separate dining area partially glass-surrounded, wheel-chair access to the main floor and garage, extra wide hallways and non-slip stairs, automated radiant floor heating throughout, a broad, tiled open fireplace of elegant Norwegian design, a wet bar and entertainment centre, two balconies suitable for family breakfasts and lunches, a flagstone terrace, 2 phone lines and fax, a heated garage for 4 cars, even a nuclear shelter.
All windows are swingable and tiltable, and are either double or triple-paned.
